Golden rules to hosting private parties
by Fred Newtz
How many times have you heard individuals say lets just have it by so and so house and before you know it, you?re planning dinner for thirty people? Family functions more often then not end up like this and the end result is often catastrophic. Fortunately you can now afford to have the family over and not have to worry about whether or not that pesky aunt will moan at your lack of matching cutlery. Hosting private parties has become a breeze since every university drop out now believes they have what it takes to coordinate large events. Event companies are springing up by the hundreds daily and how does one sift throw the hay and find the needle.
Rule 1
Hiring the new kids on the block has its perks. You should get a great discount and if all else fails at lest you should have an individual who will truly sweat blood for you. The problem isn't giving the new guys a chance but when you planning an important private party its best to go for experience. Finding event companies that have been operating for twenty years is a rare commodity and one that you should take advantage of. When hosting private parties try going for the tried and tested.
Rule 2
When inquiring with respective event companies remember to ask for their portfolios. Every well run Event Company should have a respectable portfolio with satisfied customers. Make the phone calls. Find out what the company did wrong and what they got right. This will give you a better picture of how the company is run and what to expect in terms of service when you award them a contract to organize the event. This step is vital as it will clearly indicate the professionalism within in the company at hand. Solid portfolios are worth their weight in gold. Don?t ask, demand to see it!
Rule 3
Most companies involved with events should be prepared to give detailed presentations. Explain to the coordinator what it is you would like thus permitting the company to meet your expectations. This is the key in your decision with respect to whom you may hire. Once the presentations are done the food, d?cor, staff and choice of clothing cannot be disputed at a later stage. This will also put your mind at ease knowing exactly what it is you can expect in terms of service on the night of your respective party. Presentations are essential and reliable way in deciding with which company you will go ahead with.
Rule 4
Mincing words is a dangerous game. Don't leave anything to chance; be direct and firm in every aspect of the party you intend to host. The rule here is simple, they work for you. The coordinator should be present to manage the team and ensure the smooth running of the event. You on the other hand should be delegating your desires and ensuring they are met. Remember as professional as they may be it?s your job to ensure that they are doing theirs. |
